Boo .... I was hoping for things never seen before. LOL ..... but I bet your right. I assume those are standard coming from a Wrangler already.

Also fixed the Diesel for you ;)

Is there a mid sized truck available with diesel in the US now?

Yes. The Chevy Colorado has had a 4 cylinder diesel for a few years. The ZR2 diesel is a very off road capable truck. But not as awesome as the JT will be

Oh. Duh. Totally forgot that one. Imagine that... :cwl::cwl::cwl:

The JT will blow that thing away.

This snippet is from Car & Driver but if this is brought to market it might fall into the class exclusive innovations categories.

"According to patent documents, the tailgate includes two sets of latches: One set disconnects the tailgate from the bedsides and allows it to lay flat with the load floor (like a conventional pickup tailgate), while the second set within the gate itself extends the support cables and lowers the lip of the tailgate closer to the ground. Integrated steps within the tailgate thus allow the user to more easily climb into the truck’s bed, as shown in the patent drawing below.

    0-1-1525371475.jpg

Whether this technology sees the light of day remains to be seen, and FCA might apply it to a Ram product as readily as this Jeep. Given the Wrangler’s nearly 10 inches of ground clearance and notably tall step-in height, though, the upcoming Jeep pickup seems like a good candidate for such a system."

The proportions look much better on the powerpoint slide than the ones of the test mules in the spy shots. Shorter bed length looks like.

Very exciting that the wait is almost over!

I must confess that I am still not sure what to do with a short bed.

Only being offered in a 4 door just ruins it for me. Too long! If they made a two door with or without a crewcab, I would be the first in line.

I noticed the draped JT in that shot looks better as well. I wonder why that is. Maybe they had extra crap mounted on the body panels under the trash bags on the mules to confuse everyone on the actual shape.

That's what I was thinking as well. The spy shots show a lot of overhang even for a regular truck. Guess we'll know soon enough!!

The Tacoma has a composite bed, and the feature list from Jay says spray in bedliner will be an option... which they wouldn't do in a composite bed. So I don't think that'll be a feature or if it was, it wouldn't be unique to the JT.

It could be the angle, the bed looks a lot shorter (which I would LOVE.) Its also possible that the covered image is just a stock photo and not necessarily the real truck.

I agree the 4 door makes it waaaaay too long. I would get a 2-door for sure but probably not 4. That gate turning into a little ramp is super cool - can't wait to see this at the LA auto show.

Exactly my thoughts and why I made the bed shorter on the renderings. I spent time measuring the CAD file and proportions and tried to mimic it as best as possible as I don't think the long bed is correct for all. Who knows, maybe we'll get two bed lengths?
